I went for the One burger with Macaruby Cheese (mac 'n' cheese) washed down with a Bango five dollar shake... My fellow Burger Boy went a bit more classic with a Ruby burger, fries and an Oreo five dollar shake.
We were told straight away that burgers were cooked medium... Everywhere has begun doing this but medium-rare is the way a burger should be cooked!
Not a long wait and everything came together beautifully...

| Macaruby cheese, Bango shake and One burger... Look at all that sauce! |
Food time...
A super saucy yet overdone burger arrived with crisp, hot bacon and gooey cheese followed by Super cheesy Macaruby Cheese, an awesome choice for a side and it went down very well, a good thick sauce with perfectly cooked mac and I was a happy Burger Boy, Burger Boy 2 went for fries, they arrived crisp and well seasoned - a good fry but not the best we've tasted in Exeter. Now the description of the One burger is this: "2 6oz Hamburgers, double hawkridge mature cheddar, double smoked streaky bacon, loads of RUBY sauce", now they weren't messing around when they said loads of sauce! This thing was dripping with the sauce, too much if anything, I was covered in it in no time at all, much to the amusement of Burger Boy 2. A tasty sauce, similar to thousand island and full of lovely flavour - it complimented the cheese and meat very well, lucky as everything was covered by it.
It's a shame the burger was on the well done side of medium, it dragged down the whole package for me, BB2 prefers his meat a bit darker so the Ruby's medium was perfect for him. The rest of the meal was awesome, good flavours and local sourcing mean we're fans of Ruby and we'll definitely be coming back. I just have to remember to ask for medium-rare!
